Saturday 7 June 2025 Burntwood & Lichfield School Games Football Just before half term, our U11 football team competed in the second night of the School Games football league. It took places at Lichfield City FC and there were 10 schools (13 teams) taking part. Lichfield were looking to push on and add some more points to their current total from the first evening earlier in the year.

Thursday 5 June 2025 DofE Bronze training day On Saturday 17th May the Year 10s had their first Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award training day. The students worked together for the day in their groups and completed training on first aid, nutrition, map reading and stove training.

Wednesday 4 June 2025 Music exam successes! We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of our pupils who recently took music exams with ABRSM and Trinity examination boards. Across a wide range of instruments and singing, our young musicians impressed examiners with their musicality, preparation, and poise under pressure.

Monday 2 June 2025 U13 Tennis vs Old Swinford Hospital It was a fantastic afternoon of tennis on home turf as our U13 team from LCS welcomed Old Swinford Hospital for a brilliant fixture full of sportsmanship, skill, and joy. LCS put in a superb all-round performance, winning all four singles rubbers and both doubles matches for a clean 6-0 victory!

Saturday 31 May 2025 Blists Hill Victorian village for Year 2 Year 2 recently visited Blists Hill Victorian village. We had a terrific time! The children all dressed up as Victorian children as soon as they arrived and they participated in a Victorian lesson. We discussed the similarities and differences between past and present methods of schooling.

Wednesday 28 May 2025 Burntwood & Lichfield School Games Cross-Country On Tuesday 13th May, our Year 4 cross-country runners took on the Burntwood and Lichfield School Games course in the 20-degree heat at Chase Terrace Academy. Across all age groups, we have had a super successful year with our XC teams.

Tuesday 27 May 2025 Music & Wellbeing - together in perfect harmony This week I am unashamedly sharing an excellent article written by Dr Hazel Harrison on Music and Wellbeing. Here at LCS, we are very aware of the transformational power of music and the benefits we appreciate from having such a musical community. As we reflect in the beautiful music of Easter and look towards the musical showcase that is Speech Day, it’s a good moment to acknowledge the science to back up our experiences, as Dr Harrison tells us: Music holds a significant place in bolstering wellbeing, contributing to mood enhancement, fostering social connections and alleviating feelings of isolation and stress. Music can trigger the release of positive chemicals in the body, similar to the effects of physical exercise. A person will often have an individual relationship with a song or genre, and these pieces of music may also provide a way to express emotions.

Monday 26 May 2025 Cannock & District Athletics Yrs 7-11 1/5/2025 - Years 7 & 8 School athletics competitions start at the beginning of May and it was the first Cannock and District athletics competition on the 1st of May. This was the first competition for our Year 7 pupils, and the Year 8 pupils were hoping to build on what they had achieved last year and during the cross-country season. These events welcome schools from across the district, from Lichfield, right across to Codsall and Wombourne. As you can see below, we had some brilliant results, which were topped by a total of six first places and fifteen podium places. A great start to this year's athletics season.

Sunday 25 May 2025 Vodaphone Play Your Way to Wimbledon Boys' Singles 2025 On Wednesday 7th May, the annual Vodafone Play Your Way to Wimbledon tournament was held at the Beacon Park courts, showcasing a fantastic display of talent, sportsmanship, tactical gameplay, and plenty of smiles. The event brought together an enthusiastic group of Year 7 to 9 pupils, representing a wide range of skill levels.

Saturday 24 May 2025 Tri-Golf Festival fun! This week, we were thrilled to host our annual School Games Tri-Golf Festival here at Lichfield Cathedral School —and what a day it was! We welcomed five fantastic schools, each bringing at least two enthusiastic teams, and the energy was brilliant from start to finish. The sun was shining, spirits were high, and there were plenty of smiles all round as children took to the course.

Friday 23 May 2025 Year 4 Fundraising triumph! Year 4 have completed their fundraising campaign for WE LOVE LICHFIELD. They asked children to complete a Smartie challenge during the Easter break where children had to do jobs at home to collect 20p pieces.

Thursday 22 May 2025 U15 Cricket vs KE Lichfield Last Wednesday the U15 cricket team took on KE Lichfield in the first round of the Staffordshire Cricket Cup. Having been comfortably beaten in the first round of the Cup last year, the boys were keen to improve on this!
