Year 7 ecology trip to Beacon Park

Year 7 students recently swapped the classroom for the great outdoors on an ecology field trip to Beacon Park to study biodiversity. The weather was absolutely perfect, with bright sunshine showcasing the park at its very best. Students rotated through three scientific activities during the afternoon:
- Plant Scavenger Hunt: Identifying various flora species across the park grounds.
- Soil Sampling: Testing soil properties to understand how ground conditions dictate plant growth.
- Pond Dipping: Scooping up and classifying a wide range of aquatic invertebrates.
We are fortunate to have such a diverse green space right on our doorstep. It was a wonderful afternoon of exploration, discovery, and practical science. Congratulations to all of Year 7 for working so collaboratively and showing scientific curiosity throughout the afternoon!
