Year 1 support the Guide Dog Association
Year 1's recent fundraising activities have been lots of fun and very meaningful. As a class, we took part in a fun run to raise sponsorship money for a wonderful cause. The timed event was supported with great enthusiasm, and it was lovely to see so many pupils showing commitment, perseverance, and enjoyment.
In addition, the class made dog biscuits, which our families ordered. This activity was very popular and gave us a practical opportunity to support our fundraising in a creative and purposeful way. We are so grateful to everyone who placed an order and supported the initiative so generously.
A particularly memorable part of our project was meeting 4 Guide Dog puppy handlers and their charges. After an opportunity ask a range of questions, the pupils got up close with each puppy.
The class learned a great deal about the charity and the amazing work it does. We also discovered how much it costs to raise a guide dog puppy through to adulthood, as well as the lifetime costs, which can reach £200,000. This experience helped us to understand the importance of the charity’s mission and the value of the support it receives.
Altogether, the class raised over £700, which is a fantastic achievement and a clear reflection of everyone’s hard work and commitment.
