Volunteers' Week - get involved!
This week is Volunteers' Week - a national celebration of the incredible contributions volunteers make to communities across the UK. At our school, one of our core pillars is 'service', and there's no better time to reflect on how volunteering embodies this value.
The Role of Volunteering in Our School Community
Many of our pupils actively engage in volunteering, particularly through the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) programme. Students participating in the DofE dedicate significant time to community service, developing skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility. Whether it's assisting at local charities, participating in environmental projects, or supporting community events, their efforts make a tangible difference.

Encouraging Family Participation
Remember volunteering isn't just for pupils. Parents and guardians can also find fulfilling roles that fit their interests and schedules. Engaging in volunteer work can be a rewarding way to connect with the community and set a positive example for our children.
For parents: The wonderful Erasmus Darwin House is looking for weekend volunteers at the moment - if you could help this small, but perfectly formed charity in their work in The Close, please call 01543 306260.
A Heartfelt Thank You
To all our volunteers - pupils, parents, and community members - we thank you for your dedication and service. Your contributions enrich our community and exemplify the spirit of giving.
