U13 Girls reach Staffordshire Cricket Finals
Congratulations to our U13 Girls Cricket Team, who proudly represented the school at the Staffordshire Schools Cricket Finals Day held at Fordhouses Cricket Club.
Having qualified for the County Finals, the girls were given the country of South Africa as part of the event's Women's T20 World Cup theme. The team fully embraced the occasion, dressing in their South African colours and bringing fantastic energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. Their efforts were noticed and complimented by several other schools.
The girls faced some very strong opposition from across Staffordshire and competed brilliantly in all five fixtures. Results were as follows:
- Lost to Queen Mary's High School: 42–72
- Beat John Taylor High School: 57–53
- Beat Wolverhampton Grammar School by 3 runs
- Lost to St Joseph's College: 43–68
- Lost to Sir Graham Balfour School by just 3 runs
Despite the challenging competition, the girls' spirits remained high throughout the day. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, never giving up and continuing to support one another in every match.
A special mention goes to captains Emilia S and Emilia R, who led the team superbly. They made excellent tactical decisions in the field, reacted well to opposition batters, and worked tirelessly to keep team morale high throughout the competition.
The team: Emilia S, Emilia R, Amelia, Jess, Issy, Chloe, Isla, Mei-Li, Ambur and Adriana
The girls should be extremely proud of their achievement in reaching the county finals and of the way they represented the school both on and off the field. Well done to everyone involved!
