U13 Girls' Cricket Staffordshire Tournament
Earlier in February, our U13 Girls' Cricket Team attended the Staffordshire Schools Indoor Cricket Tournament held at WV Active Aldersley, Wolverhampton. The competition brought together schools from across the county and provided a full day of competitive indoor cricket.
For several of our players, this was their first experience of competitive indoor cricket, and the girls approached the tournament with enthusiasm and a real willingness to learn. The team played four matches across the day.
In their opening game, the girls narrowly lost 79–94, taking valuable learning from the experience. Emilia R impressed with the ball, taking three wickets, while Emilia S batted confidently and consistently.
The second match against John Taylor was a much closer contest, finishing 62–74, showing clear improvement in both bowling and fielding. The girls earned a well-deserved victory in their third game, defeating Queen Mary’s School 70–62. Ambur and Chloe bowled particularly well, applying pressure and taking key wickets at crucial moments.
In the final match against Wolverhampton Girls’ High School, the team produced their strongest batting performance of the day, narrowly losing 98–106 in an exciting and competitive game (with Amelia taking 2 catches!).
Although the team did not progress to the semi-finals, the day was an extremely positive experience. The girls demonstrated excellent resilience, teamwork, and enthusiasm, and all expressed how much they would like to compete again next year. They took a great deal from the tournament, and it was fantastic to see their confidence and understanding of the game grow throughout the day.
Well done to all the girls involved for representing the school so positively.
