U13 Girls' Cricket 8-a-side Staffs Tournament
The U13 girls took part in the Outdoor 8-a-side Staffs Cricket Tournament at Moddershall Cricket Club on the 12th of May, playing five matches across the day. Some girls came into the competition with more experience than others, but all players supported one another brilliantly throughout.
The girls started strongly with a win against Stafford Grammar, scoring 62 runs to 57, with a standout batting performance from Emilia R, who hit four boundaries. The team learned a lot from this first game and continued to improve as the day progressed. Their second match saw them defeat Discovery Academy 78–51, with much-improved running between the stumps making a significant difference. They followed this with another excellent win against Co-op Academy, 73–66, featuring fantastic fielding displays from Ambur and Izzie, alongside strong batting performances from Chloe and Mei-Li.
The fourth game against Yarlet was a very close contest, with the girls edging a 47–45 victory thanks to some fantastic tight bowling from Jess, Isla and Amelia. In their final match, the girls narrowly lost to St Graham Balfour by just 6 runs. Despite the result, the team showed great determination and teamwork, with Emilia R and Emilia S sharing the captaincy responsibilities excellently throughout the day.
Winning 4 out of 5 matches means the girls have qualified for the Staffs County Cricket Final Day on 15th June at Fordhouses Cricket Club. Huge congratulations to all the girls - I was very proud watching on.
