STEM Challenge at Aston Uni for Year 9
During a recent STEM day, 12 of our Year 9 students worked collaboratively with students from other schools at Aston University to compete on 4 unique challenges:
Medical Diagnostics - students used some of the techniques and tools doctors use within hospitals, e.g. measuring blood pressure, CPR, measuring body temperature.
Robotics - students used systems to programme actions based on trigger points in a robot, e.g. 'stop moving when reaching red'.
E-FIT - students used technology developed and employed in police forensics to identify perpetrators and witnesses from memory.
Vehicle design - students were challenged to build a Lego car which included investigating wheel size, and developing a gear system.
Valuable skills and practical experience were the main outcomes for everyone, but 2 of our students won the Vehicle Design challenge - well done Senan and Henry!
