Religious studies walkabout

Last week in the glorious weather, Mr Goodlet kindly invited me to join in with a fantastic Year 8 Religious Studies lesson around The Cathedral Close. Pupils began their lesson on the Palace forecourt. Mr Goodlet asked pupils to visually explore the different elements of the Cathedral and to spot something they had never noticed before. There were some really interesting discoveries!

The next stop was the statue of St Chad which stands tall in The Close facing Dam Street. Pupils learnt all about the saint and bishop to whom Lichfield Cathedral is dedicated, even re-enacting some of the events that took place during his life. St Chad is well known for his kindness and humility. He is also remembered for his care of persecuted and displaced people and for his focus on peace-making, which connects to our marking of Refugee Week this week.
