Pupil achievements: a round up!

Lichfield Hockey Club Junior Awards

Following on from another successful season for Lichfield Hockey Club, the club held their end of season Junior Awards last Friday night. The players and parents were treated to an inspiring talk from Helen Richardson-Walsh, who represented Great Britain at the Sydney, Beijing, London (won Bronze) and Rio (won Gold) Olympic Games. Helen also achieved a European Gold medal (2015), a World Cup Bronze medal (2010), a Champions Trophy (2012) and a Commonwealth Games (2002) Silver medal.

Several LCS pupils were recognised with awards.  Cerys and Katie (Year 8) were presented with Most Improved Player for U14s and U13s respectively.  Both girls have played for their team as well as moving into ladies adult sides over this winter and summer season. Cerys also continues to train and play with the Staffordshire County squad.

Nancy (Year 3) received the award for U8s Player of the Season; Ophelia (Year 3) was awarded Most Improved Player in her age group; and April (Year 3) was the lucky one to hold the Olympic gold medal - hopefully a sign of things to come!

Cricketing First for Joshua

Joshua R (Year 4) played his first cricket match this week for Yoxall Cricket Club. Joshua helped his team achieve a victory against Fradley, with his first wicket from a long distance throw. He also hit the ball for four twice and he stopped two out of bounds hits from the opposition to win by 4 runs.

He really enjoyed the game and was awarded Player of the Match.

Luella and Bea's Showjumping Success

Luella sat on her horse Bea

Last weekend Luella H (Year 10) and Bea competed in the Three Counties Show. This was particularly special as it was their first outing since Bea’s injury, and it has taken several months of rehabilitation to come back to peak fitness for the showjumping and eventing season ahead.

Luella represented her pony club Heart of England in the Showjumping Pony Club Nationals category in the 80s and 90s division.

Luella and Bea with their team reached both jump off finals and came 3rd in the 80’s (with her sister Arabella) and 2nd in the 90’s.

A successful return to form, Luella and Bea look forward to the summer season ahead!
