National Youth Monologues 2026 competition success

Run in conjunction with Trafalgar Entertainment, Methuen Drama and the Federation of Drama Schools, the National Youth Monologues is a competition for 9-19 year olds, with the aim of finding the nation's best young actors.

There are four categories to choose from: Contemporary, Classical, Screen, and Devised – and four age groups, so our pupils were competing with others their own age.

Out of 4,000 entries, 3 of our pupils were Commended: Sapphire S (Year 10), Sarjan S (Year 9) and Oliver M (Year 12). Sammy A (Year 6) has been Shortlisted for the Regional Final later in May.

As a consequence of so many of our pupils achieving awards, and the high quality of both the drama teaching and the performance opportunities from which our pupils benefit, LCS has been nominated for the Methuen Drama School & Group Prize (West Midlands Region).  Marcus Condron of the National Youth Monologues stated that the nomination "recognises the quality of work being produced by your students, as well as your commitment to supporting and developing young performers.  It is a significant achievement, and we are pleased to recognise your contribution."

Many congratulations to all the pupils involved and good luck to Sammy!
