National Public Speaking competition triumph!
We are delighted to announce that both LCS entrants - Zephan and Isla (both Year 12) - won awards at the ISA Public Speaking Competition recently (pictured above with Mr Bryant, Head of English).
In a very high quality competition, Isla achieved a remarkable Second Place overall in the competition, while Zephan won the Judges' Award for Outstanding Reasoning and Evidence. For LCS students to win two of the four available prizes and to have placed in the top four out of more than one hundred candidates from across the country is outstanding.
Isla and Zephan wrote their own speeches (maximum of 5 minutes) and recorded their delivery on video, as part of the initial online qualification round. They were subsequently invited to Gonville & Caius College in the University of Cambridge for the final, to perform their speeches in person. The judges were looking for excellence in reasoning and evidence, expression and delivery, and organisation and prioritisation.
Huge congratulations to Isla and Zephan!
