ISA Midlands Junior Athletics Championships

Long jump Gold medal winner Annabelle

Just before half term, our Year 4-6 pupils attended the ISA Midlands Junior Athletics Championships at Saffron Lane Athletics Track in Leicester. The event saw more than 30 independent schools compete against one another, with medals and qualification for the National Finals up for grabs.

All of our pupils behaved and competed brilliantly. They showed real determination and competitive spirit throughout the day and were rewarded with some excellent results. Highlights included:

  • Taran Year 5 150m - 7th
  • Poppy Year 5 150m - 4th
  • Theo Year 6 80m - 4th
  • Josh Year 5 75m - 5th
  • Annabelle Year 5 70m - 5th
  • Freddie Year 6 600m - 8th
  • Poppy Year 5 600m - 5th
  • Chloe Year 6 Long Jump - 4th
  • Josh Year 5 Long Jump - 8th
  • Sophia Year 6 Shot - 6th
  • Year 5 Boys Relay - 6th

A brilliant achievement to have some many of our young pupils make finals in their events and finish in the top 8, out of all the independent schools in the Midlands. LCS also won four medals at the Championships, which is a fabulous achievement:

  • Year 5 Girls Relay - Silver
  • Jared, Year 6 Shot - Bronze
  • Year 6 Boys Relay - Silver
  • Annabelle, Year 5 Long Jump - Gold

Special congratulations to Annabelle whose Gold medal means she has now qualified to represent the Midlands Independent Schools Athletics Team at the National Finals in June at the Alexander Stadium. Annabelle is the first Year 4-6 pupil from LCS to qualify for this event. We wish Annabelle the best of luck and hope that some of our senior pupils can join her in the team.
