Gladstone Pottery adventure for Year 2
Year 2 recently visited the Gladstone Pottery Museum where they had a marvellous time learning all about why Stoke is so famous for its pottery. The children visited the Engine Room, the Slip Room and learned how the pottery is made and how sometimes one piece of pottery may pass through as many as 8 kilns before it is completed.
We watched some live 'throw down pottery' being created and a beautiful clay rose. After lunch, the children then got creative themselves and decorated their very own plate in the style of Clarice Cliff. It was a very enjoyable day and the children were brilliant. Well done Year 2!
