Excellent A Level and BTEC results!

Lichfield Cathedral School is proud to celebrate another year of outstanding A Level results. This summer, 83% of all grades awarded were A*–C, with an impressive 24% achieving A* or A.

Headteacher Sue Hannam praised the achievements, saying:

"These results reflect the unwavering commitment and hard work of our students and staff. Many students have secured top grades across a broad range of subjects, and I couldn’t be more proud of their resilience, determination, and generosity of spirit. Their contribution to the wider school community leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire younger students."

Deputy Head Andrew Harrison added:

"This success is a testament to the high-quality teaching and nurturing environment at Lichfield Cathedral School. As a non-selective school, our Sixth Form welcomes students with a wide range of GCSE results, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see students achieving grades well beyond baseline testing predictions. We were delighted to be in the Top 10% of schools nationally for value-added for 2024-2025.  This year’s outstanding results demonstrate the exceptional value added by our Sixth Form teachers, our academic mentors and our wellbeing team, and have proven once again why Lichfield Cathedral School is the Sixth Form of choice for so many Midlands students.”

There were some exceptional individual achievements:

  • Luke Pritchard achieved A*A*A* and will study Chemistry at the University of St Andrews.
  • Sophie Oakley was awarded A*A*A and will now study an Art foundation degree course at Oxford Brookes University whilst undertaking a Choral Scholar role at Queen’s College, Oxford University.
  • Iona Lillico achieved A*A*A and will study Biochemistry at the University of Warwick, while Darcey Asquith’s A*A*B grades mean she will study Management at the University of Bath.
  • Jemima Hallett’s AAB grades enable her to study Equine Studies at the Royal Agricultural University, while Jacob Payne (AAA) and Nellie Hynes (AAB) will respectively study Business Management and English Literature at the University of Birmingham.

Felicity Goodlet, Head of Sixth Form, acknowledged the vital role of families:

"We are deeply grateful to our parents for their steadfast support. Their involvement - from attending school events to creating a supportive home environment - has been instrumental in helping our students thrive."

Sue Hannam concluded with a message to leavers:

"To all our students heading off to university, apprenticeships, or employment - congratulations. We wish you every success and happiness in the exciting journeys ahead. You will always be part of the Lichfield Cathedral School family, and we look forward to celebrating your future achievements."
