Enter the Spirited Arts Competition

Winning artwork from last year's Spirited Arts competition

Spirited Arts is an annual competition that has run since 2004 for Religious Studies pupils, aged 4-18. The competition gives you a chance to be creative and imaginative. It is all about spiritual ideas and you can use any art form - painting, sculpture, tapestry, music, dance, video, etc.

The judges look for work that is artistically well crafted, and which responds to the themes with specific reference to religion and worldviews, making use of sacred text, religious or spiritual concepts. The judges will also be looking for an element of originality.

The themes for 2026 are:

  1. Faith in our Future, hope in our Future
  2. Prayers for all that lives! Animals, Earth, God!
  3. Open Bible!
  4. Searching for God
  5. Sacred spaces
  6. Children of God

There is a wonderful online art gallery & poetry collection, please see some of the best entries from last year here: 2025 Archives – NATRE. Each year tens of thousands of pieces are created and submitted. As a school we can enter a maximum of 10 arts pieces, and so internal judging will take place too.

School closing date: Friday 19th June 2026 – please email your entry to Mrs Johnson before this date – i.johnson@lichfieldcathedralschool.com
