Cricket win against Stafford Grammar
LCS U16 Boys produced an impressive all-round performance to secure victory over Stafford Grammar in a T20 fixture at Lichfield Cricket Club last week.
Batting first, LCS posted a strong total of 157 for 6 from their 20 overs. The innings was built on a confident start from the opening pair. Henry E struck an excellent 47, featuring 11 boundaries, and was unlucky to fall just short of a well-deserved half-century. Adam C supported at the top of the order with 9, while Ollie M made a valuable contribution at number three, scoring 30, including four fours and two sixes.
Stafford Grammar applied pressure with a disciplined bowling attack, claiming wickets regularly through a mix of bowled dismissals, catches, and an lbw. Despite this, LCS showed good composure with Sam E and George B in the latter stages of the innings, running well between the wickets to collect crucial singles and maintain momentum.
At the interval, both teams enjoyed a cricket-style lunch, kindly prepared by the LCS catering team - much appreciated by players and staff alike.
Taking to the field, LCS made an immediate impact with the ball. Openers Ollie M and Tom J set the tone, restricting Stafford Grammar to 30 for 2 after 6 overs. The pressure continued through the middle overs, with Adam C and Henry E maintaining control and picking up wickets. At over 12, Stafford Grammar were 70 for 4.
The fielding effort from LCS was sharp and committed throughout, highlighted by four well-taken catches and consistent energy in the field. The bowlers rotated, and the team worked well to limit Stafford Grammar to 102 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Henry E was named Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 47 runs and delivering bowling figures of 3 wickets for just 9 runs from his 4 overs.
It was an enjoyable afternoon of cricket, played in great spirit and well supported by parents on the boundary. A fitting final fixture before the exam period begins in earnest.
