Celebrating National Poetry Day

To start National Poetry Day off at Longdon, we had the fantastic Daniel Thompson come in for an assembly where he read some of his positive poetry from his books, Being You and Outside In. He gave a fascinating motivational talk about how he became an author, and all the children listened intently and seemed to really enjoy it. 

He then held workshops with all different year groups and focused on a variety of poetry. The children played matching rhyme games and made acrostics based on nature and then stood up in a sharing assembly on Thursday and read them out loud. We had a wonderful couple of days.
