Busy time for literacy champion Jayce
Congratulations to Jayce (Year 2) who was invited to The World Literacy Summit 2025 held at Oxford University as a Finalist in the Award for Contribution to Literacy by a Youth.
The Summit is the world’s largest gathering of international literacy specialists, NGO leaders, researchers, academics, literacy entrepreneurs, education companies, publishers, practitioners, and government representatives, and took place over 4 days in early April.
Jayce was also invited by Brunel University to perform his poem titled "Fruits of the Spirit" at the inaugural Benjamin Zephaniah Day at the University campus, having been inspired by Zephaniah's poem "The British". He had the opportunity to meet with children's author, Michael Rosen, and Jeremy Corbyn MP who were both greatly impressed with his work.
Jayce promoted literacy and creative writing during a Storytime Session and Q&A to more than 600 children at Short Wood Primary School, Telford. Finally, finishing a very busy Easter holiday, Jayce was invited to meet the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, who had been impressed by his work as an author and literacy advocate.
