Blists Hill Victorian village for Year 2
Year 2 recently visited Blists Hill Victorian village. We had a terrific time! The children all dressed up as Victorian children as soon as they arrived and they participated in a Victorian lesson. We discussed the similarities and differences between past and present methods of schooling.
After lunch, we had a long look around the village and visited a printing press and found out how Victorian workers sometimes lost fingers in the temperamental machinery. We also visited a squatter's cottage, a draper's shop and pharmacy and found out how rich parents sometimes paid for their daughters to have all their teeth extracted and made into dentures!
We learned so much and it really was a fascinating day out, full of fun!
