Friday 22 May 2026 The Fire and Rescue Service visit Year 1 Year 1 were delighted to welcome the Fire Service into school as part of our PSHE and careers work. The children listened carefully as the firefighters talked about their important role in keeping people safe and helping the community. They learned how to cross the road safely, how to stand sensibly on the pavement, and what to watch out for when cars are reversing on driveways.The children also explored fire evacuation safety and discussed how to leave a building calmly and quickly in an emergency. They asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas, and impressed everyone with their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm. It was a brilliant opportunity to build important life skills while finding out more about a very important job.Mr Derbyshire

Thursday 21 May 2026 The Growing Classroom officially opened! A huge thank you to The Friends of LCS along with the sponsors and supporters who had raised more than £13,000 at last year's Summer Ball for the Growing Classroom at Longdon. The polycrub enabled the extension of our outdoor learning at Longdon to embrace year-round horticulture and studies in biodiversity and sustainability, core to our unique Growing Minds curriculum.

They have been learning about the crucial contributions of scientist Rosalind Franklin, whose work with X-ray diffraction images played a key role in uncovering the structure of DNA.

Friday 15 May 2026 Choristers make friends with animals The boy choristers had a lovely time between Sunday Eucharist and Evensong last week, making new friends with the animals from Nature's Burrow, which finished with all the boys being able to hold Ghost the owl. A lovely way to spend an hour between the hard work the choristers put in on a Sunday. Mrs Barton

Thursday 14 May 2026 Happy Ascension Day! We were blessed with sunshine and blue skies as choristers took to the roof of the Cathedral to sing this morning in honour of the Feast of the Ascension of Jesus into heaven.We were fuelled by a delicious cooked breakfast prepared and served by Catering Manager, Lee Goodgame, and Chef Katie in preparation to climb up the eighty plus spiral steps to the roof.A wonderful way to start the day and a very happy memory of chorister life made for all involved today.Mrs Barton

Wednesday 13 May 2026 World Challenge South Africa preparations The countdown has begun for the students preparing for their World Challenge South Africa expedition in July, including an exciting and interactive Training Day, where they met their Expedition Leader, Aiden, for the first time.

Monday 11 May 2026 Eventing success for Luella and Jack Luella (Year 11) and her horse Jack have had a busy few weeks since the eventing season opened. Luella set her self a target to qualify for the prestigious One Star Osberton Eventing Trials Championships held in September, the first time such a class has been held in the UK. The competition reflects a focused effort to provide age-appropriate international competitive opportunities for young riders while supporting their long-term progression within the sport of eventing.

Saturday 9 May 2026 LCS Organists at Coventry Cathedral On Bank Holiday Monday, our three school organists - Leo, Laurie and Isobel - enjoyed a ‘Play the Organ' morning at Coventry Cathedral. They were each able to play Coventry Cathedral's renowned Harrison organ with guidance from Liam Condon, Coventry Cathedral's Assistant Director of Music (and former LCS music teacher!)

Friday 8 May 2026 Jasper achieves 2nd place in first go-karting race Jasper (Year 1) started go-karting in January this year. He took part in his first competitive race on Sunday 26th April. After qualifying in last place, Jasper finished Heat 1 in an excellent 3rd place and finished the Final in a fabulous 2nd place. Jasper was over the moon to receive his very first trophy and is looking forward to more races and hopefully more trophies! Well done, Jasper!

Thursday 7 May 2026 Amelia signs with Birmingham City Girls Amelia in Year 9 has been scouted by the head scout for Birmingham City Girls and has been selected to play for their U16 football team. Amelia is currently U14, so is playing up two age groups. She will be training and playing four times a week, including gym sessions, and competing in the Junior Premier League against other teams like Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and some boys' teams.

Monday 27 April 2026 Squash success for Elsie and Billy Elsie (Year 10) and Billy (Year 7) both represented Warwickshire at the Junior Inter-Counties Squash Championships at the end of March. Elsie's U15s team finished 5th overall, achieving an impressive win against a county A team, an excellent accomplishment.
