• Wednesday 19 November 2025 Candle Conference for RS students Year 12 and Year 13 Religious Studies students recently attended a live 'Candle Conference' event with world renowned philosopher Dr Peter Vardy at Worcester Cathedral. The theme of the day was 'Athens... or Jerusalem' and explored four different areas of philosophical thought. Sessions included faith and reason, arguing for God, religious experience and the nature and attributes of God. As well as getting students excited about the subject, the live event succeeded in enriching and extending their knowledge and understanding. The sessions supported students in analysing, evaluating and making informed, well-reasoned academic judgments.

• Friday 7 November 2025 U16 ISA Midlands Rugby 7s Champions! Huge congratulations to the U16 boys for winning the ISA Midlands 7s Rugby tournament. The boys played some superb rugby throughout the day to be crowned champions.From one to nine all the boys tackled well, ran hard and strong, moved the ball and demonstrated a fantastic style of rugby. The boys faced some powerful and talented individual players throughout the day.

• Wednesday 5 November 2025 Congratulations Phoebe! Phoebe (Year 12) swapped her hockey stick for sailing gloves during half term. She spent the week sailing from the River Medway in Kent near the historic Chatham Dockyard obtaining her RYA Competent Crew certification in some pretty gusty conditions.

• Monday 3 November 2025 Choristers sing for HM King Charles III The Choristers and Choral Scholars had the honour of singing for the visit of His Majesty King Charles III to Lichfield Cathedral during the half term holiday.
• Sunday 2 November 2025 Staffordshire Inter-Schools Cross-Country Competition During half term, there was another opportunity for our runners to take part in more cross-country. Each year there is an inter-schools competition hosted by Staffordshire Schools Athletics Association, inviting any pupils in Years 7-9 to compete against the best young athletes in the county. Each of the four races were extremely competitive with more than 175 pupils taking part in the event.Six pupils from LCS were able to take part in the event and test themselves against the best athletes from the across the county. Will was the only LCS pupil in the Year 8/9 boys race and had a strong run against some top athletes. We also had five Year 7 boys who competed and they achieved strong runs, with Leo our highest placed finish in 12th place. He was backed up well by Billy who finished in 17th place and we also had Henry, Harry and Henry competing from LCS. All the boys did extremely well in this tough competition, with more than 40 runners in each of the races.The big success of the day
• Saturday 1 November 2025 Cannock and District Cross-Country results Cross-country season is back and just before the half term holiday we took a strong team to take part in two Cannock and District competitions. More than 50 pupils from Years 7-13 took part in one or both of the events, which is a brilliant effort.The first competition took place at King Edwards in Lichfield. We had some fantastic individual and team performances which included individual silver for Freya in the Year 8/9 girls race and individual bronze for Emilia in the Year 7 girls race. A big shout out to George and Imogen who were two of only three Sixth Formers from the whole of the district to take part in the event. In total the team recorded twelve top 10 finishes with Leo and Billy finishing 6th and 7th in the Year 7 boys race. Alex and Ollie finished in 4th and 6th in the Year 8/9 boys race and Daisy finished in 4th place in the Year 10/11 girls race.In the team events, the Year 8/9 boys and the Year 7 boys teams both finished in 3rd place and the Year 8/9 girls and the Year

• Wednesday 15 October 2025 Big Breakfasts a hit! Oh what a beautiful morning (in fact two mornings!) of wonderment, joy and good cheer! Longdon recently hosted two Big Breakfasts and it was a delight to see so many parents and pupils getting to know each other, catching up, and tucking into hearty breakfast baps. Thank you so much everyone for supporting us. Thank you to Linda and her team for getting up at the crack of dawn to feed us. And a huge thank you to Accent Catering for supplying the food. This is now a regular feature of 'Longdon Life'. The winners of the raffle prizes were two pupils, both from Year 2 - one of the pupils also celebrated a birthday on the very same day and the other pupil had bought the raffle tickets with his very own money. We've made a whooping £966.86 which will all be put back into Longdon resources for our wonderful pupils.

• Monday 13 October 2025 Year 7 residential a huge success Year 7 pupils and staff packed a lot of activities into their 3-day residential to York. Two pupils describe the trip in their own words: "The first day of this crazy trip was very exciting - the railway museum was great and it was really nice to look at all the trains. There was so much to understand and learn from it, so I'm quite happy we went there. Another fun part of the day was when we arrived at the hostel and saw our rooms. They were very nice and I was very excited when we played lots of games in our room. The ghost walk beforehand gave me the chills - but that day was all round excellent! On the next day, we went to the Jorvik Dig and Jorvik Viking Centre, which were both fun, learning about history and using archaeological skills, and seeing a day in the life of a Viking in York. To finish the second day, we had some fish and chips before going back to the hostel to relax. Finally, on day 3, we went to the chocolate factory and ate lots of samples before going to the S
