Secondary Education for Year 7 (11+) from September 2005
Resources
We are presently moving over to wireless technology in order to ensure that our ICT network for the future is flexible and expandable. However, in all areas of School life, it is important to be well resourced in order to make the teaching thoroughly effective. The budget will reflect this priority.
Extra-curricular activities
The School will run a full programme of extra-curricular activities in the secondary stage, including intellectual, creative and sporting opportunities. Physical Education will continue to form a part of the curriculum, and we hope to build on the successful sporting achievements of boys and girls in Years 7 & 8 at the present time; boys and girls have been represented at district, county and national level.
The School will develop a Community Service Group (Secondary) and is investigating for the future the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme which students around the country find so rewarding.
Buildings and Facilities
It is important to be aware that we are presently teaching up to Year 8 and have the facilities for teaching the curriculum thoroughly and successfully until the first Year 9 class in September 2007. Nonetheless, we will be extending and increasing facilities well before that time.
Sport
Lichfield District Council will make sports pitches available for our use in Beacon Park as and when further space, in addition to our substantial playing fields by Stowe Pool, becomes necessary. It is anticipated that a suitable site will be found for a much-needed Sports Hall.
